Salutorian Elena SlobodyanyukElena was born in Moscow, Russia, and moved to San Diego with her family when she was two years old.

She was a competitive rhythmic gymnast for 12 years, and participated in local, state, and national competitions around the United States. She now works as a coach at her gym, where she teaches young children basic rhythmic gymnastics skills.

In addition to gymnastics training, she has been on the varsity girls’ tennis team at UCHS for three years. This year, she was vice president of the California Scholarship Federation, a merit-based outreach club in which students volunteer at school and local events.

She is  also a member of the Science Olympiad, a club in which she studied three science-based topics and competed in the regional and state competitions against other high school students.  In her free time, she enjoys hiking and playing the piano.

Elena will attend the University of California, Berkeley and will major in biological sciences. Elena graduates with a 4.74 GPA.
