A new fire station (Fire Station No. 50) is to be built on Nobel and Shoreline and the City has commissioned artist Susan Zoccola to create a permanent public art mural.

The Commission for Arts and Culture has set up an online survey so that members of the community can share their knowledge about University City with the artist. She wants to know about the events, history, and organizations that are important to University City today and have been in the past.

Here are a few ideas to get you started: Beautification projects such as street medians, banners, and transformer art; events such as the 4th of July Celebration, Annual Banana Split, weekly Family Food Trucks and Summer Concerts; organizations such as University City Community Association and EdUCate!

Community survey available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WS5WD8L. Deadline to complete the survey is August 28.

More information about the “Fire Station No. 50 North University City” public art project is available at https://www.sandiego.gov/arts-culture/publicart/artcip
