Programming for Adults

  • Adult Writers’ Group: Meet with other beginning writers in a supportive environment. Share your writing, positively critique others’ work and hear from guest writers. Thursday, January 4 @ 2:00 p.m.
  • Harbor Seals of La Jolla Cove: Join us for a presentation on biology and behavior of the harbor seals that reside in La Jolla Cove. Learn more about the needs and habits of these amazing marine mammals and how to safely view them. Presented by Seal Society of San Diego Docents. Wednesday, January 10 @ 2:00 p.m.
  • University City Community Association – This is a community meeting featuring updates from law enforcement, fire-rescue service, legislative and other community leaders. All are welcome. Wednesday, January 10 @ 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
  • Jewelry Making, take home something you made yourself! Make your own earrings and/or other pieces of jewelry with an experienced crafter. Space is limited, please call (858)552-1655 to RSVP. Friday, January 12 @ 10:00 a.m. & Noon.
  • Accordion Club meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month. All are welcome! Saturday, January 13 & 27 @ 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Migration of the Gray Whales – Winter is migration season! From their winter feeding grounds in the Bering Sea to the warm birthing grounds off the coast of Baja, Gray Whales boast the longest migration of any animal on earth. Come hear a few whale tales about these majestic creatures and their testament to the power of conservation. Presented by Alex Warneke Science Communicator, National Park Services. Tuesday, January 16 @ 3:30 p.m.
  • UC Book Club will be discussing To the Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey. Wednesday, January 24 @ 2:00 p.m.

Programming for Children

  • Join us for Preschool Storytime for Kids; stories, crafts, finger plays and songs. Every Thursday @ 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • A Makerspace Craft Station is available in the Children’s Area with a different craft each week. All week long (Monday – Saturday).

Programming for Tweens/Teens 

  • Video Game Fridays, Wii gaming with your friends, Get your game on! Every Friday @ 3:00 p.m.
  • Challenge Island will be going to the Great White Bridges. On this island destination, kids will learn how triangles are powerful in building bridges and in a shark’s mouth. They will tackle the challenge of building truss bridge out of gumdrops and toothpicks and then test the strength of their bridge. Wednesday, January 17 @ 2:00 p.m.
  • LEGO Club – Have fun with other kids will you build different things. Come build anything you can image with LEGO. LEGO pieces will be provided. Wednesday, January 31 @ 2:00 p.m.
