Local Artists Sought to Paint Transformer Boxes on Governor

Share

Courtesy of Barbara Gellman, UCCA’s Beautification Committee:

transformer-boxWe have five unpainted transformer boxes along Governor Drive that need the artistic attention of some local artists. They are located on the northeast corner of Governor & Gullstrand, north side of Governor and Agee, northeast corner of Governor and Genesee, northwest corner of Governor and Genesee, and northeast corner of Governor and Regents.

When creating an acceptable design, it should depict some University City highlights or “Welcome to University City” as a theme on two of the boxes. It is important that you are able to complete a box within a three-week period of time and your design must be submitted by October 15 for consideration.

The artist will be paid an honorarium and will include the cost of supplies and paint. Entries will be evaluated as they are received. The selection process is competitive and solely the responsibility of the Beautification Committee. Preference may be given to UCCA members. Submission is not a guarantee of acceptance.

This is exciting for the artist and the community; watching the progress has been one of the highlights of the process. For further information or questions, please contact Merle Langston, Beautification Chair at mberman@san.rr.com or Barbara Gellman, Beautification Co-Chair at bggellman@yahoo.com.
