January 2020: Happy New Year Calendar from Action for Happiness

Let’s get 2020 off to the happiest possible start. This Happiness Calendar has daily suggested actions to do throughout January 2020 to help you be happier yourself and bring more happiness to others too. UCCA’s publicity and promotions chair (Diane Ahern) had been contemplating her New Year’s Resolutions and was searching for a monthly Kindness Calendar. She stumbled upon a series of monthly calendars from Action for Happiness, a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society. Diane is providing this calendar as a service to those in our University City community who may want to spread more happiness. UCCA neither supports nor endorses the Action for Happiness organization or movement … but likes the idea of spreading happiness and kindness throughout University City.

Action Calendar – Happy January 2020

  • Happy January – Day 1 Wednesday – Find three good things to look forward to this year
  • Happy January – Day 2 Thursday – Make time today to do something kind for yourself
  • Happy January – Day 3 Friday – Spread a bit of happiness by doing kind things for others
  • Happy January – Day 4 Saturday – Write a list of things you feel grateful for in life and why
  • Happy January – Day 5 Sunday – Get moving. Do something physically active (ideally outdoors)
  • Happy January – Day 6 Monday – Say something positive to everyone you meet today
  • Happy January – Day 7 Tuesday – Take ten minutes to sit still and just breathe
  • Happy January – Day 8 Wednesday – Look for the good in others and notice their strengths
  • Happy January – Day 9 Thursday – Learn something new and share it with others
  • Happy January – Day 10 Friday – Thank three people you’re grateful to and tell them why
  • Happy January – Day 11 Saturday – Have a friendly chat with a stranger
  • Happy January – Day 12 Sunday – Switch off all your tech 2 hours before bedtime
  • Happy January – Day 13 Monday – Be gentle with yourself when you make mistakes
  • Happy January – Day 14 Tuesday – Take a different route today and see what you notice
  • Happy January – Day 15 Wednesday – Put a worry into perspective and try to just let it go
  • Happy January – Day 16 Thursday – Get outside and notice five things that are beautiful
  • Happy January – Day 17 Friday – Eat healthy food which really nourishes you today
  • Happy January – Day 18 Saturday – Make something happen for a good cause
  • Happy January – Day 19 Sunday – Get back in contact with an old friend you miss
  • Happy January – Day 20 Monday – Go to bed in good time and give yourself time to recharge
  • Happy January – Day 21 Tuesday – Take a small step towards an important goal
  • Happy January – Day 22 Wednesday – Try out something new to get out of your comfort zone
  • Happy January – Day 23 Thursday – Decide to lift people up rather than put them down
  • Happy January – Day 24 Friday – Today do something fun and invite others to join you
  • Happy January – Day 25 Saturday – Put away your devices and focus fully on who you’re with
  • Happy January – Day 26 Sunday – Say hello to a neighbor and get to know them better
  • Happy January – Day 27 Monday – Challenge your negative thoughts and look for the upside
  • Happy January – Day 28 Tuesday – Count how many people you can smile at today
  • Happy January – Day 29 Wednesday – Use one of your personal strengths in a new way
  • Happy January – Day 30 Thursday – Ask other people about things they’ve enjoyed recently
  • Happy January – Day 31 Friday – Write down your hopes and plans for the future
