Courtesy of SDFD Assistant Fire Marshal: The proposed Fire Hazard Severity Zone map for the City of San Diego was approved by the Public Safety Committee and moved forward on the consent agenda at City Council on July 15th.
The adoption of the proposed FHSZ map requires an City ordinance change which needs two readings at City Council. The second reading is scheduled to take place at City Council on July 29th.
After the second reading the mayor has 10 days to sign and once signed, the ordinance will be effective after 30 days which will likely be in early September. Once the new map takes effect, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department will update the City’s website to reflect this.
