  • Genesee Avenue Street Closure: Beginning Friday, July 8, 2016, and lasting through Monday, July 18, 2016, Genesee Avenue from Nobel Drive to La Jolla Village Drive will be closed during nights and weekends. This will allow Westfield UTC and the Mid-Coast Trolley Project to combine work efforts scheduled on Genesee Avenue. The Mid-Coast Trolley Project work will be focused on underground utility construction and will condense multiple months of work into 11 days, mitigating traffic and street impacts to residents and businesses in the area.
  • Balboa Avenue and Morena Boulevard: Crews continue to work nights  to minimize impacts to local traffic. For all residents and businesses in the area, access to driveways will be maintained throughout the project. There may be some portions of roads closed or detoured at night.
  • Work hours on Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue for the next several weeks are 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesdays through Sundays. This work requires a lane closure; one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue.
  • Santa Fe Street: crews are working day and night shifts to complete a water line installation. Traffic controls are currently in place. Work is anticipated to continue through June 2016. SDG&E will begin a separate utility relocation project in the same area beginning June 2016 through winter 2016.
  • Genesee Avenue: day work is ongoing at the intersection of Eastgate Mall, progressing north to Regents Road. Night work hours will be in effect, and some lane closures will be necessary to complete this utility work.
  • Preliminary construction activities: Already underway to relocate overhead and underground utilities to make way for the construction of the trolley tracks and for the guideway on the aerial portion of the route.
