Celebration at Standley Park will highlight park improvements past and future; community plan amendment

Celebration Logo AdThe 4th of July Celebration will feature booths from many groups with information about current and future projects that affect University City and surrounding communities.

  • While you’re at the park, take a look at the many park improvements sponsored by the City, the Standley Recreation Center Director and the Recreation Center Council. Improvements such as exterior trim painting, canyon cleanup, and some playground equipment items replaced.
  • Stop by University City Community Association’s booth to view and discuss plans for the joint use Standley Park project between the San Diego Unified School District and the City of San Diego known as Imagine UC 2020. The project comes up for vote by the Recreation Council on July 28.
  • If the proposed amendments to the University Community Plan to remove the Regents Road Bridge and the widening of Genesee Avenue are a concern to you, you’ll find information at the Celebration at the booth hosted by UC Connection and at the booth hosted by Friends of Rose Canyon.
  • You’ll also learn about the Marcy Park proposed renovations at UCCA’s booth where we’ll be serving free ice water.
  • Many other groups, vendors and activities – something for the whole family! Hope to see you there.
