Mid Coast Trolley MapIn order to make way for the primary construction of the Mid-Coast Trolley Extension project, crews have begun relocating underground utilities – such as water and sewer lines.

Work will start in March along portions of Genesee Avenue near the intersection with Eastgate Mall.

Work has been underway and will continue along Balboa Avenue from Santa Fe Street to Morena Boulevard. Some traffic controls may be in place during work hours

This overall utility relocation effort will help prepare the area for the new trolley infrastructure. This water and sewer relocation work includes opening sections of the street to identify and move portions of underground systems. The majority of the work will be performed at night to minimize impacts to traffic.

For all residents and businesses in the area, access to driveways will be maintained throughout the project. There may be some lane closures or detours at night.

The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and its contractors are building the Mid-Coast project, which will extend the San Diego Trolley from Old Town to the University City community. Nine new stations will be constructed, serving major activity centers such as the Mission Bay area, the VA Medical Center, UCSD, and Westfield UTC.
