From the San Diego Union Tribune, March 2, 2016; excerpt:
Key issues in San Diego’s most crucial City Council race include increasing the city’s minimum wage, regulating short-term vacation rentals and the business backgrounds of the two candidates.
Republican Ray Ellis and Democrat Barbara Bry have similar stances on most other issues, including that their race for the council’s north coastal District 1 seat should be about ideas and leadership skills instead of party affiliations.
But the closely-watched race is considered crucial by those focused on the partisanship at San Diego City Hall, where Democrats hold a 5-4 majority that Republicans could overturn with an Ellis victory on June 7.
