Water and Sewer Main Replacement Project Moves to Governor Drive between Stresemann and Radcliffe (Improv 1)

A City of San Diego Capital Improvements Program (CIP) project is underway to improve the water and sewer infrastructure in the University City area. The project will replace approximately 10,170 linear feet (1.93 miles of existing water mains and install approximately 8,896 linear feet (1.68 miles) of new sewer mains.

During June, the project is expected to move to Governor Drive between Radcliffe and Stresemann. The timelines presented below are approximate and subject to change:

Sewer Main Replacement

  • Crews are expected to finish sewer main replacement work in residential area of Eton Av & Eton Ct during May
  • Crews will then begin work in June at the intersection of Governor Dr & Stadium St
  • Sewer main installation will continue on Governor going east to Radcliffe
  • Sewer main installation and the majority of sewer work is expected to take place on the Governor Drive eastbound lanes
  • Residents can expect lane closures

Water Main Replacement

  • Crews are expected to finish work on Stresemann St between Gobat Av & Governor Dr during May
  • Crews will move to the residential areas of Ithaca St, Ithaca Pl, Eton Ct, Stadium Ct, Stadium Pl during Summer
  • Following conclusion of work in residential streets, crews will begin installation of water mains on Governor Dr during October
  • Water main installation work in the business areas and recreation center will not be taking place until 2026
  • Residents can expect lane closures
