LWSD 31-Day Challenge #24: Create an Action Plan to Help You Reach a Long Term Goal!

Share

From Live Well San Diego:

Want to turn your job into a meaningful career? Looking to buy a home or take a vacation? What steps can you take today, this month and in the next six months to get to where you want to be?

Setting short-term, action-oriented goals can help you incrementally accomplish a larger goal by allowing you to complete smaller tasks on a more achievable basis. Take 10 minutes to think about a long-term goal you would like to achieve. Then, outline at least three smaller tasks that can help you reach your goal.

As an example, possible short-term goals for creating a more meaningful career could include:

  • Sign up to attend a career fair or networking event
  • Participate in a career workshop to learn interviewing or resume-writing skills
  • Volunteer or intern to get on-the-job training
  • Take an online class or sign up for formal classes to get a certification or degree
  • Schedule a meeting with your supervisor to create a plan for advancement

If creating a more meaningful career is one of your long-term goals, the following Live Well San Diego Recognized Partners can help you get the skills you need to find a new job with confidence:

  • San Diego State University
  • San Diego City College
  • MiraCosta Community College District
