Courtesy of Barbara Bry, Councilmember, District 1:

As chair of the Budget Review Committee, I stood with Council President Cole and Mayor Faulconer for the release of the Mayor’s revised budget. I look forward to reviewing the revised budget in full to make sure that it addresses all of the community’s priorities.

Public safety is the number one responsibility of local government, and I am pleased to see that financial resources were identified to develop a comprehensive police recruitment plan and a national search for San Diego’s next Police Chief.

Thank you to all of the engaged San Diegans who came to City Hall to testify, sent emails and letters, called, and attended District town hall meetings to share your priorities and concerns. Because of your input, many important revisions to restore critical neighborhood services were made.

We will continue the budget process with a thorough examination of the Mayor’s revised budget at the final Budget Review Committee hearing on Thursday, May 18th, at 2 PM, at the City Administration Building Council Chambers, 12th floor, 202 “C” Street, San Diego.
