Councilmember Bry: Wearing a face mask is the single most important thing you can do to slow the spread of COVID-19

July 2, 2020 Update from Council President Pro Tem Barbara Bry: Wearing a face mask is the single most important thing you can do to slow the spread of COVID-19. As we prepare for one of the busiest weekends of the summer, I urge everyone to please wear face coverings and socially distance when you are out in public.

The CDC recommends cloth face coverings in public settings for all people age 2 and older whenever they might approach others who don’t live in the same household in situations where social distancing is difficult. Wearing a mask helps you stay healthy, and it also keeps San Diego on track for timely and a dearly needed comprehensive recovery.

If you’re near the water this weekend, remember to “cover up,” keep 6 feet away from others not in your group, and respect our amazing lifeguards who will be fully staffed and keeping their eyes on the water to make sure everyone is safe. I hope you all have a happy and a healthy 4th of July weekend!
