From UCCA President Diane Ahern: Good afternoon neighbors, I received the following email notice earlier today from the mayor’s office:
On Saturday there was a water main break in Council District 6 on Governor Drive (near the Village Nursery/Everde Growers at the east end of Governor Drive at MCAS Miramar) involving a 48″ transmission pipeline. City crews have been working on this break around the clock and anticipate repairs to be completed by late Friday.
As a result of the break, a large area of customers may experience water pressure fluctuations and water discoloration until the repairs are complete. A map of the impacted area is attached (Fluctuating Water Pressure Map). Customers in this area are asked to use water only for critical purposes. This water is safe to drink with the exceptional area noted below.

The boil water notice has been issued as a precaution in coordination with the California Division of Drinking Water following a large water transmission line that broke Saturday morning near the 5400 block of Governor Drive. It has not been determined if the water is contaminated.
Water wagons are available at the 5100 block of Corte Playa Catalina and 4800 block of Seda Drive for residents to access water for drinking, cooking and other needs.
In addition, due to low pressure issues, customers in several communities in the central part of the city, including Bay Park, Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, Linda Vista and Tierrasanta, are asked to reduce their water usage to only critical needs, such as cooking and drinking. Non-critical uses, such as irrigating landscaping and washing clothes, should be postponed until water pressure is restored. Low water pressure issues stem from the transmission pipeline being taken out of service.
City of San Diego Public Utilities Department crews are working on repairs to the broken water pipe. It is expected that water service will be restored to those impacted by the boil water notice by the end of the week. The Public Utilities Department will provide regular updates on its website sandiego.gov/public-utilities/customer-service. To request public works services or report issues, please contact the City of San Diego Public Works Dispatch at 619-527-7500.
