In University City, the winter holidays officially kick off the second weekend of December with community events at both Standley Recreation Center and at Doyle Recreation Center.

  • Dinner with Santa & Tree & Menorah Lighting on Friday, December 8, at Standley Recreation Center, 3585 Governor Drive:  The University City Parks Council (UCPC), University City Community Association (UCCA) and Standley Community Recreation Group (CRG) invites the community to a festive, fun-filled evening. Enjoy a hearty pasta boxed dinner from Lorna’s Italian Kitchen ($9 per meal; cash only), musical entertainment, arts & crafts, and an appearance from Santa. Dinner begins at 5:15 p.m.; arts and crafts begin at approximately 5:45 p.m.; the entertainment, Tree and Menorah Lighting begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit: sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/centers/recctr/standley
  • Winter Wonderland on Saturday, December 9, at Doyle Recreation Center, 8175 Regents Road:  The forecast calls for snow in University City! Winter Wonderland is a fun-filled family event at the Doyle Park Recreation Center in support of the Doyle Elementary PTA. Winter Wonderland features a real snow play-area with 4 tons of snow, international food pop-ups, a bounce house, arts & craft stations, family photo opportunities, live DJs, and so much more. Seating will be limited, so families may want to bring a blanket for the field. Doyle Elementary’s Winter Wonderland will take place on the afternoon of Saturday, December 9th from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Admission is just $5 for adults and $2 for children.
