From Library Manager Melissa Martin: University Community Library at 4155 Governor Drive is ready for some big changes. After we close our doors and book drop at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, you may notice some activity inside the building. What’s happening?
Staff are busy packing up the library and office supplies, and equipment is being packed up to be stored safely off-site. Books will be packed up and old furniture will be removed to get ready for new carpeting, furniture and a lot more.
You will also see a big fence go up around the whole property when the construction starts. Soon you’ll see construction vehicles coming and going first thing in the morning, which is when the real fun begins. While we’re closed, staff will be spread out around the library system so you may not see us for a while, but we will see you when we re-open next spring for a Grand Re-opening Party.
Here are some of the items being upgraded/renovated:
- Carpeting and flooring
- Shelving
- Restrooms
- Acoustic paneling in the community room
- Paint (interior/exterior)
- Exterior signage
- Public furniture
- Service desks
We look forward to seeing you next year!
