On December 18, the Planning Commission will host a workshop to learn about and discuss the updated fire codes for Wildland-Urban Interface within the City of San Diego. The wildland-urban interface (WUI) is the area where human communities meet natural habitats. This is a public meeting and all are invited to attend via Zoom. From the Fact Sheet, the following is a list of significant CWUIC changes:
- Reflects adoption of new 2025 LRA VHFHSZ maps effective 8/30/2025.
- Establishes requirements for Zone 0 based on the most recent Board of Forestry draft regulations resulting from California AB 3074.
- Includes ignition resistant construction requirements previously located in CBC Chapter 7A and CRC R337 including local amendments previously established in the SDMC.
- Includes specific requirements for defensible space zones to maintain consistency with current SDMC brush management regulations and other State Codes and Regulations including Title 14.
