From UCCA’s President Jemma Samala: Happy New Year everyone! Hope your holiday season went well, and it was nice to take a break, as we all are now getting back to work, helping out our communities!

Our first 2024 UCCA public general meeting is Wednesday, January 10, 5:30pm at the UC Library at 4155 Governor Drive. You will notice that it’s a half hour earlier than in the past. I want to make sure we respect our librarians time, and finish up by 7:30 at the latest, as we run our meetings outside of their normal operating hours. Feel free to arrive earlier, as we’ll have meet & greet time starting at 5:15pm.

Please also note on your calendars that we are going to have public meetings every other month. The UCCA board will have board-only working meetings in the other months. The public meeting dates for 2024 are listed below, all starting at 5:30pm at the UC Library:

  • January 10
  • March 13
  • May 8
  • July 10
  • September 11
  • November 13

During the off months of February, April, June, August and October, we will be planning “One-on-One” talks – one person, one topic of concern to the community. If that is something you, or your public official, would be interested in, please let me know. I envision them to be one hour long max, including a Q&A at the end. Dates and times are flexible.

Please let me know if you plan to attend the January meeting, and if there’s a specific topic you want to report on.

That’s it from me. I look forward to working with all of you, and I hope for a harmonic, healthy and happy year for our communities.

Thanks for your service,
Jemma Samala
