As early as August 28th, the contractor will extend the work zone along Nobel Drive during project work hours in preparation for upcoming work at the Nobel Drive and Genesee Avenue intersection. Refer to the map displaying the anticipated work zone setup and associated vehicle traffic lanes.
Work in this segment is scheduled from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., through September 2025. During work hours, the traffic signal will flash red. Flaggers will be onsite to help direct traffic through the intersection during construction activities.
For your safety, please follow all posted signage and plan extra time when traveling in the area to accommodate for traffic delays. On-street parking will be restricted throughout this work. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
The City and project team are committed to completing construction as efficiently as possible with safety as our highest priority, and the community’s patience and coordination are appreciated.
What to Expect:
- Message boards will be placed in advance of the work.
- A single lane in each direction will be open on Nobel Dr.
- The crosswalk at the intersection of Nobel Drive and Genesee Avenue will be closed during work hours.
- A single northbound lane will be open on Genesee Avenue. Left turns allowed from northbound Genesee onto westbound Nobel.
- Parking restrictions will be enforced; please avoid parking in areas with “no parking” signs. Vehicles in violation of these signs will be towed.
- 24/7 access for emergency vehicles, residences and businesses will be maintained.
- Please anticipate traffic delays and construction noise.
- For safety reasons, please follow all posted signs including detours for traffic.

Update 08/08/2025: Nobel and Lombard Place – From the Pure Water Project Team: Pure Water construction crews continue to make progress on pipeline installation and tunnel construction in the University City area. As of July 2025, more than seven miles (38,864 linear feet) of pipeline has been installed in University City.
Crews successfully completed pipeline installation along Genesee Avenue between Governor Drive and just south of the Nobel Drive intersection. Additionally, three of four large-diameter, highly technical tunnels are complete.
Construction will continue with open casing work at SR-52 and pipeline installation along Nobel Drive. In early August, crews moved onto Nobel Drive to complete pipeline installation from Lombard Place to Genesee Avenue. Construction Notice – Lombard Place and Nobel
