Update 08/21/2025: UCCA received two updates today:
- The bike lane striping is still in the plan. However, the water and sewer main projects are not scheduled to be completed until fall of 2026; next year.
- Any work on bike lane striping will take place after water main construction project ends and are dependent on funding.
- The non-vegetated medians that have been leveled as part of the water and sewer main projects will be replaced.
A City of San Diego Capital Improvements Program (CIP) project is underway on Governor Drive (from Stresemann to Genesee) to improve the water and sewer infrastructure in the University City area.
The project will replace approximately 10,170 linear feet (1.93 miles of existing water mains and install approximately 8,896 linear feet (1.68 miles) of new sewer mains. In addition, there is a follow-up CIP project for bike lane striping of the project site.
