🔥The work you complete today may save your home and protect a firefighter tomorrow. [Ref: Ready Set Go page 3.]*
From Diane Ahern, University City Fire Safe Council President: The University City Fire Safe Council hosted the Fire Department and neighbors at University Village Park in March and shared information about Zone Zero, the new Fire Hazard and Evacuation Planning Maps, and Home Hardening.
The SD Fire-Rescue Department reminds homeowners that overgrown vegetation between and around homes increases the risk of fire spreading throughout the community and endangering lives and property.
Pre-fire planning through home hardening and vegetation management allows firefighters the ability to fight fires more safely. The work you complete today may save your home and protect a firefighter tomorrow.Â
The Fire Safe Council and the Fire Department encourage everyone to become familiar with the Ready Set Go guide. It provides essential information about Zone Zero, defensible space, and home hardening methods and materials. This guide also includes a checklist of emergency supplies needed as part of your personal evacuation plan.
