It’s June and it’s June Bloom! University City Community Association (UCCA)’s University City News June 2026 PDF newsletter is here!

Print copies are expected to be available for pickup at public spaces on Governor Drive (at the UC Laundromat, Standley Recreation Center, Cal Coast Credit Union) on Saturday morning. [Print copies are delayed because of Monday’s Memorial Day holiday.] Print copies are also available at the North University Library on Judicial and at Nobel and Doyle Recreation Center.

Print copies will also be available at the Library on Governor Drive on Friday, June 5, during the Grand Re-Opening Ceremonies. 

UCCA’s delivery volunteers will begin distribution this weekend.

June 2026: 

  • ✅ Tuesday, June 2: Primary Election Day; information at: https://www.sdvote.com/
  • 📚Friday, June 5 at 2 PM: Library on Governor will celebrate its Grand Re-Opening June 5, from 2 to 3 pm. Please join neighbors and friends for a special ceremony at 2:00 p.m. to welcome University City patrons back to their local library.
  • 🔥Monday, June 8 at 6 PM: Fire Safe Council meets via Zoom; this month’s topic is Fire Safe Your Home Insurance with information from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) based on the Wildfire Prepared Home™ program.   • 🏘️Tuesday, June 9 at 6 PM: UCPG Planning Group, in person and via Zoom. The Planning Group will hear about and consider a four house development on Robbins Way.   • 🧓Saturday, June 13, 2 to 3 PM: Senior Housing Options presented by UCCA’s Senior Watch at Cal Coast Credit Union. For more information about Senior Watch, visit : https://www.universitycitynews.org/senior-watch/
  • Tuesday, June 16 – UCCA does not host a public meeting this month. Please visit with us at one of the many special events this month including the library re-opening on June 5, the Senior Watch program on June 13, and the Marcy Park grand opening on June 20.
  • Wednesday, June 17 , 6:30 PM: UC Celebration Committee meets to plan the 4th of July celebration at Standley Recreation Center at 6;30 PM. For more information, call the Recreation Center at:  (858) 552-1652
  • 🎞️Saturday, June 20, Marcy Park Grand Opening Event and Movie sponsored by University City Community Foundation. Festivities begin at 6 PM.
  • Saturday, June 20, UCCA’s Office Hours with Jemma at Marcy Park from 6 to 8 PM.
  • Thursday, June 25 , 7 PM: Standley Community Recreation Group at the Recreation Center. This is a public meting and all are welcome. For more information, call the Recreation Center at:  (858) 552-1652
  • Friday, June 26, Nobel Recreation Center Movie in the Park: K-Pop Demon Hunters. Details at: https://www.universitycitynews.org/movies-in-the-park/
