Saturday morning, Nov 14: Model A Ford Club will Parade through University City

Share

Hey there Clairemont and University City! Let’s get ready for some old-fashioned fun as we watch, wave, and cheer the Model A Ford Club Turkey Trot from the safety of our driveways, balconies, or sidewalks! Please wear a face-covering and practice social distancing. Don’t forget your camera!

From the San Diego Model A Ford Club: We will be cruising through parts of Clairemont and University City on Clairmont Drive, Clairemont Mesa/Regents, Stresemann, Governor, Gullstrand, Genesee, Decoro, and Charmant (and some connector streets) on Saturday, November 14 from approximately 10:30- 11:30 AM. We’ll be driving Model A Fords from the 1928-1931 era. Watch from your driveways and balconies and we’ll honk our classic AHOOOGA horns! We honk for bikers, strollers, dog walkers, and runners too! Driving these old cars brings us joy and we hope it brings some Thanksgiving joy to you too! Please share our (PDF) Turkey Trot Flyer with friends and neighbors.

The Club must abide by the CDC guidelines for COVID-19, so we will just be touring through University City, not stopping, to maintain 6-foot social distancing with our members and the public. If you plan on watching the drive-by cruise, please wear a mask and also abide by the 6- foot social distancing rule.

Here’s the proposed Turkey Trot route and (PDF) Turkey Trot UC Map November 14 2020: We’ll begin at Mission Bay, parading through Canyon Villas (assisted living facility) at Balboa and Clairemont Drive at 10 AM, and then head to University City. The plan is to drive north on Clairemont Mesa Blvd/Regents Road, go west on Governor Drive, left on Stresemann passing by Marcy Park, and then head back east on Governor, passing Standley Park.

We will then proceed east on Governor past Genesee to the senior apartments on Kantor and Gullstrand. We will then head back west on Governor to turn north onto Genesee, then left on Decoro to end up in the La Jolla Colony area.

All tours are weather dependent. Route may change due to traffic/roadwork conditions. Times are approximate.

The San Diego Model A Ford Club was first founded in 1957 by a few dedicated Model A owners. Our purpose is to help preserve the Model A, which was in production by the Ford Motor Company from 1928-1931. Fun fact: 4 cylinder engines, top speed 45 mph! Check out our website at www.sandiegomodelaclub.com. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
