Aug & Sep Construction Alert: Pure Water moves back to Nobel between Genesee and Lombard Place

From Pure Water University City 08/08/2025: Construction is progressing on major pipeline installation on Genesee Avenue and Nobel Drive as part of the City of San Diego Morena Northern Pipelines and Tunnels Projects in University City. The contractor is expected to move onto Nobel Drive between Lombard Place and Genesee Avenue in early August.

Work in this segment is scheduled from Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through September 2025. During work hours, two-way traffic on Nobel Drive will be maintained.

For your safety, please follow all posted signage and plan extra time when traveling in the area to accommodate for traffic delays. On-street parking will be restricted throughout this work. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

The City and project team are committed to completing construction as efficiently as possible with safety as our highest priority, and the community’s patience and coordination are appreciated.

What to Expect:

  • Message boards will be placed in advance of the work.
  • A single lane in each direction will be open on Nobel Dr.
  • Crosswalks at the intersection of Nobel Dr. and Genesee Avenue will remain open.
  • “No parking” signs will be placed on Nobel Dr. and Lombard Pl. as needed.
  • Parking restrictions will be enforced; please avoid parking in areas with “no parking” signs. Vehicles in violation of these signs will be towed.
  • 24/7 access for emergency vehicles, residences and businesses will be maintained.
  • Please anticipate traffic delays and construction noise.
  • For safety reasons, please follow all posted signs including detours for traffic.
