Hello University City and Happy New Year. Let’s get this new year started with an overview of some of what’s going on and a preview of what’s to come.
Our top story of the New Year is likely to be construction-related. Yes, the University City area is under construction with several ongoing projects. Three of the projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Here is a summary of three of the largest projects:
- Governor Drive – Water and Sewer main replacements with bike lanes at the project site: Construction is ongoing and expected to be completed in 2026. Ref: https://www.universitycitynews.org/UCCA/CIP-ProjectFinderMap
- Genesee Avenue – AC 1048 Water & Sewer main replacements: Construction is ongoing and expected to be completed in 2026. Ref: https://www.universitycitynews.org/UCCA/ConstructionAlertJuly2025

Save-the-Date Saturday, January 10: Out of an abundance of caution, UCCA’s president Jemma has decided to cancel her “Jemma at Starbucks on Saturday” event that was scheduled for Saturday, January 10, at Starbucks from 9 to 11. You can reach out to Jemma through the UCCA email at; UCCA@universitycitynews.org
There are three community meetings in January; city staff and liaisons regularly attend these meetings and all are open to the public. Information about all of these meetings (and much more) is available on page 3 of the December January newsletter at: https://www.universitycitynews.org/ucca-newsletter-archives/
For more information about the upcoming public meetings to discuss the final stages of the three construction projects listed above, please refer to the Caution, Area Under Construction news story below.
