Hello University City and Happy New Year. Let’s get this new year started with an overview of some of what’s going on and a preview of what’s to come.

Our top story of the New Year is likely to be construction-related. Yes, the University City area is under construction with several ongoing projects. Three of the projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Here is a summary of three of the largest projects:

Save-the-Date Saturday, January 10: Out of an abundance of caution, UCCA’s president Jemma has decided to cancel her “Jemma at Starbucks on Saturday” event that was scheduled for Saturday, January 10, at Starbucks from 9 to 11. Sun, Jan 11, 10 am: Introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong


There are three community meetings in January; city staff and liaisons regularly attend these meetings and all are open to the public.   • UCPG planning group meets on Tue, Jan 13 via Zoom at 6 pm
  • UCCA community association meets on Tue, Jan 20, at 5:30 pm at Standley Rec Center
  • CRG Standley recreation group meets on Thu, Jan 22 at 7 pm at Standley Rec Center
