Digital Deception and How to Spot a Deep Fake

Share

October is National Cybersecurity Month; this is from the City of San Diego via Instagram @cityofsandiego: Deepfake technology uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create realistic but fabricated images, videos and audio that can be used to spread misinformation, impersonate people or commit fraud.

Before you trust or share something online:

  • Look for inconsistencies in images, video and audio.
  • Verify unusual requests directly with the person using a trusted phone number.
  • Be cautious of urgent requests for money or personal information.
  • Think twice before sharing content that seems suspicious.

Stay alert, think before you click and help stop the spread of digital deception.
