Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 am: The Caltrans I-5 Asset Management Project team will close three of four lanes on northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) at Gilman Drive on Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 a.m. to conduct bridge work.
Caltrans has worked closely with the contractor to minimize traffic impacts by leaving one lane open and closing lanes only in the evenings for this work.
Northbound I-5 motorists are advised to take alternate routes like State Route 15 (SR-15), State Route 163 (SR-163), and Interstate 8 (I-8) to connect to Interstate 805 (I-805) and I-5. Northbound I-5 motorists traveling past State Route 52 (SR-52) will experience delays as traffic is guided into one lane to allow for bridge work.
The Westbound SR-52 connector to Northbound I-5 will also be closed to limit traffic approaching the closure.
Portable changeable message signs have been placed along the routes to advise of the closure and suggest alternate routes. Residents near Gilman Drive and La Jolla Colony Drive should anticipate construction noise and lighting during the closure.
